FIRST FOOT GUARDS EVENTS, 2011

We invite you to come to our events, see what we do, and consider joining the Guards. All events are open to the public and are free except Battle Road Heroes and Old Sturbridge Village where there is a nominal admission fee. All events are subject to change due to weather or other cicumstances, so before attending an event, always check the event host's web site for the latest information. Most of these events repeat every year and there are photos of many of them on our Photos page.

Sun, April 3, 2011, Lexington Green dress rehearsal for the Patriots Day reenactment, 2pm (units arrive 1pm). Rain date: Saturday, April 9, 2pm.

Sat, April 23, 2011, Battle Road Heroes, Hartwell Tavern, MMNHP, Lincoln, MA, 7-8:30pm. Candle-lit tour to hear the personal stories of residents who lived along the Battle Road on April 19, 1775. $5 per person, $10 per family. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Minute Man National Park. The First Guards will portray the British army camp and will serve as guards for General Gage.

Sat-Sun, May 21-22, 2011, Needham Encampment, Ridge Hill Reservation, Charles River Street, Needham, MA, Sat. 10-4, battle at 1:30pm, Sun. 10-2:30, battle at 1pm. The scenario is a British raid on an American supply caravan moving from Boston to New York in May 1778.

Sat, July 2, 2011, Boston Harborfest. The Redcoats invade the city! 9am: Morning drill in British camp on Boston Common, corner of Charles and Beacon Streets, then march to Fan Pier to board ship. 11am-noon, Long Wharf: The Guards arrive by sea and march up King (State), Queen (Court), and Tremont streets to the Boston Common. Noon-4:30pm: Redcoat military demonstrations and skirmishes with Colonial militia on Boston Common at 2pm and 4pm.
